It&#039;s more stable than Ubuntu, and has newer software because it&#039;s a &quot;rolling release&quot; (ie, software packages are updated as soon as they are tested for stability by the Debian devs -- not every 6 months like with Ubuntu). Doing a &quot;apt-get update&quot; always gives you the latest versions of Debian packages. Plus, the Debian community is completely open and transparent, unlike Canonical with its closed development, heavily censored forums, and decisions made by corporate types who pay only cheap lip service to free software ideals.</description>
